Yoga& Mindfulness

Yoga

Yoga is a 5000 year old science that encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual practices designed to bring balance and unity. It comprises various practices such as postures, breathing techniques, chanting, and meditation methods. Though there are several styles of yoga, the ultimate aim is to enhance both the mind and body, leading to therapeutic benefits. Yoga is a preventative practice that can keep our bodies and minds healthy!

My Yoga Journey

My journey to yoga started after an accident when I was 11 years old. I suffered an almost deadly concussion, which also fucked up my back. I tried medication, exercise, and chiropractors every week for years, with no results. The moment I left the chiropractors office, my back popped back out of place and I was in pain. At 16 I found a yoga VHS (yup, there were still VHS's back then!) As I practiced, not only did my back feel better, but I felt more balanced, less stressed, and more emotionally stable. I was hooked on asana practice.

Later, the yoga--pranayama, cleansing practices, meditation, and other lifestyle practices--allowed me to manage my autoimmune issues in a way that Western medicine hasn't. Along with Ayurveda, yoga has taken my chronic issues from disrupting my life every day to only bothering me occasionally. And the longer (and more committed I am to my practice) the better my health becomes. I want to help everyone who deals with chronic illness or chronic stress have the amazing results I have found in yoga!

I received my 200hr yoga teacher certification from Holistic Yoga School in 2015 and received my Yoga Therapy certification in 2023.
